Welcome back to Rapture! With a dangerous journey waiting ahead of you in the beautiful world of Rapture, there are a few things that you should know before attempting to rescue the Little Sister. As the Big Daddy and protector of the Little Sister, you will be in a dangerous task where hundreds of Splicers will coming after you. Are you prepared to fight your way through Big Daddy’s nemesis?
In this guide that we prepared for you, we will give you some of the best strategies out there on how to survive Rapture. We will provide tips on how to defeat certain enemies or maybe the benefits of harvesting the Little Sisters that you come in contact with. Let’s get started shall we?
DEFEATING THE BIG SISTER
Who is the Big Sister? When the Little Sisters are out of sight, the Big Sister comes to their rescue and eliminates whomever is in her way. She looks somewhat familiar to the Big Daddy but the Big Sister is more faster and deadlier than the Big Daddy.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: One of the attacks to watch out for when facing the Big Sister is her dash attack. You need be watching every move because most of the time, she will sneak up behind you. She also has Telekinesis plasmids that can throw anything at you. Watch out for her needle that which can pierce through you.
HOW TO ATTACK: Equip your Machine Gun with Armor Piercing Ammo. Since she is covered with steel armor, this is one of the easiest ways to get massive damage on her. Keep running around the area and try to get out of her sight as much as possible. Use the Eletrick Shock plasmid to stun her for a couple of seconds. Never use the Drill because that’s too slow of an attack and you will just give her the chance to attack you.
DEFEATING THE BIG DADDY
Even though you are a Big Daddy in BioShock 2, this doesn’t mean that you will be friends with your fellow Big Daddies. Similar to the first one, he will always be with the Little Sister.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: If you don’t want the Big Daddy to attack you, then leave him alone. The only way to adopt the Little Sister is by defeating the Big Daddy. The attacks that you need to look out for is his Rivet Gun, his plasmid bomb, and his drill.
HOW TO ATTACK: Similar to the Big Sister, you must use Armor Piercing Ammo. He will take massive damage if you’re using it. If Big Daddy is near the sentry bots, try to corner him but make sure you hack them first. Stunning them in the puddle of water will also rapidly deplete his health bar.
HARVEST or RESCUE
One of the most frequently asked questions in BioShock 2 is the decision whether to Harvest or Rescue the Little Sister that you adopt. Similar to the first BioShock game, Harvesting the Little Sister will give you 160 ADAM but don’t expect to get the good ending. There is an achievement in BioShock 2 where it will unlock when you save all Little Sisters that you adopt. If you choose to Rescue them, you will get a limited amount of ADAM from them.
There are a lot of tonics and genes that you can buy with ADAM and the only way to get all of them is through harvesting them since you will need a lot of those ADAMs. There is also an achievement in the game when you buy all of the tonics and genes.
Basically, you will need at least two playthroughs to get all of the achievements or trophies in the game since the option Harvest or Rescue will give you an achievement for each.
ADOPTING THE LITTLE SISTER
Adopting the Little Sister after taking down the Big Daddy will allow you to search for corpses with ADAM to up to two. Just remember that while the Little Sister is extracting the ADAM on the coprse, Splicers will come attacking you and the Little Sister. If you are a looking for more ADAM to get, I suggest to gather both ADAM in the corpses and Harvest them. It will give you at least 240 ADAM per Little Sister.
IS THE DRILL USEFUL?
Honestly, Big Daddy’s Drill is not useful at all. It is weak but it all depends on how well you upgrade your weapons. When you run out of weapons, you will be using the Drill most of the time. Using the Drill to Splicers with Weapons is not the best idea as you will already be dead once you approach them.
UNLOCK FRAME RATE OPTION
This feature allows you to run the game faster than it is right now. However, if you turn ON this option, you will be seeing screen tearing.
RESEARCH CAMERA
The purpose of the Research Camera that you found in “Pauper’s Drop” is to research the enemies’ weaknesses and it will also give you bonuses. The shots that you take can be viewed in the Main Menu of the game. Use this to gain the advantage on the Splicers. While using, it will film yourself and take the strategy on how to finish them.
MULTIPLE ENDINGS
Depending on the actions that you do in the game (saving the Little Sisters, Killing Grace and the two more characters) will give you different endings. To view all of them, two playthroughs are needed to see them all. It is best to have multiple save files.

Some things to consider: the drill is immensely useful against big sisters, as their melee attacks are far less damaging overall than their ranged attacks. Helpful on difficult settings.
Harvesting little sisters nets a short term boost in ADAM, but you lose the advantage of the ammo, plasmid, and ADAM gift given to you after you save four, then eight LS’s.
Armored opponents take armor piercing rounds (bots, daddies, sisters). Flesh opponents take anti-personel rounds.
Headshots.
Also, electric has a “c” at the end, not a “k”. Best of luck in life.

April 8, 2013 at 8:59 PMI agree with lol – the drill is incredibly useful against big sisters, and against certain big daddies, such as the rumbler. It effectively immobilizes most opponents as it deals damage. While it’s not nearly as useful without the upgrades, if upgraded it can be your best offense against them – provided you can get close enough. The drill is worthless unless you hold down the button and actually drill. I get the feeling that the person that wrote this guide never tried that.
Also, agreed, headshots. And everything else lol said.

May 28, 2014 at 2:45 PMDrill not useful? I beg your pardon? You can basically onehit all splicers, if you have it upgraded and are using drill plasmids (I wasn’t using the “drill specialist”, or what’s it called). And to back up what B said, if you freeze a big daddy, then dash into him and hit him with a melee attack afterwards, he will be killed instantly (If you have it upgraded and have the plasmids, of course). And I have to say, using the drill dash was one of the most fun experiences i have had so far in with a weapon in any FPS.
