It seems that newly found evidence MAY point to the existence of the highly anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront 3. Developer Spark Unlimited was said to be behind the project, though nothing more than then standard “we can’t confirm or deny” claim. However a posting on their site which stated “We are in production on an unannounced high-profile, popular game sequel for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release” was found.
Recently Spark added a job listing, strongly suggests its existence.
Spark is looking for a senior combat designer for a 3rd Person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise currently greenlit for full production development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC markets.
Naturally this is hardly conclusive, but there are other supporting details. To continue speculation, John Lawrie’s LinkedIn profile mentions the following under developer work:
Unannounced third person sword fighting game (well known IP, Xbox 360, PS3)
This might seem like a stretch, but the only notable sci fi sword would be the lightsaber. Additionally another developers LinkedIn account confirms it’s a shooter.
I have been working for three years in a AAA third person shooter using Unreal Engine and Kynapse AI middleware.
While this is still speculation, there was a recent tweet that confirm’s its a sequel. This vastly reduces the number of possibilities out there. Of course it could always be something else, but the odds of that are very slim. Whatever the title is, another LinkedIn profile mentions a 2012 release, so we may just find out sooner than later!
