Nikkei a japanese news paper, has some exciting news about the next generation Playstation Portable. If you weren’t feeling the hype before, you might be after this!
NTT DoCoMo the largest japanese mobility carrier, will be offering 3G connection on the PSP 2 in japan. With this service you can download games, play online, and download movies. Don’t get too excited yet, this isn’t the famed PSP phone as the PSP 2 doesn’t support calling. In addition the PSP 2 will naturally feature Wifi too!
If 3G isn’t up your ally the PSP 2 will also have an OLED touch screen which will be “larger than normal”. Not a lot of details were given about the specifications, but Sony has apparently developed a processor to support high end graphics. Despite this new knowledge there is still a lot unknown. First and foremost there is no word on the cost of 3G , and if so the existence of a Wifi only model.
The paper also mentions something that comes off like the rumored “Playstation Phone”. However there is nothing new to report here past things we know, like its based off Android OS.
Currently popular belief is that Sony will finally show us the PSP 2 on the 27th, and the “PSP Phone” sometime next week.
