Activision is pleased to announce today that the much awaited Black Ops have reached an amazing record sales on the first day of its release this week.
Just on its first day, Black Ops sold an approximate of 5.6 million copies in both North America and United Kingdom, as compared to the 4.7 million copies for last year’s Modern Warfare 2. Activision and Treyarch’s Black Ops is the only game that sold close to six million on its first day of launch; not even Halo Reach can beat that!
Call of Duty: Black Ops is now available in stores on all platforms; PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, and PC. Check back for our review later this week.

November 11, 2010 at 3:07 PMGreat for Activision, but it’s really an irrelevant comparison. Reach was only released for the 360, so there is no justification to compare sales numbers with a game that was released for multiple platforms. I’d be curious to know whether more copies of Reach or Black Ops were sold in the first 24-48 hours for the 360 alone.
Either way, they’re both excellent games.
