Among the myriad of complaints players have against the Destiny franchise, among the most common and repeated is PlayStation exclusive content. Partly because these have been some nifty items, such as Hawkmoon and Borealis, though largely due to the length of exclusivity. However, they briefly made Wavesplitter available to all players.
As part of update 2.2.1, Bungie finally added Forsaken exotics to Xur’s fated engram loot pool. While this is something players have been waiting months for, Bungie forgot to remove Wavesplitter from the line up on non-PlayStation platforms. This resulted in some players being shocked and delighted that they got this previously exclusive weapon, though the joy was short lived.
We’re investigating an issue where the Sony exclusive weapon Wavesplitter was made available from Xûr on Xbox and PC. We’re currently working on a fix. In the meantime, Xbox and PC players who acquired the weapon will be able to use it. After the fix goes live, they will still have it in their inventories, but will not be able to equip it until this weapon enters the general Exotic loot pool in September 2019.

Despite this being the expected outcome, some players are still upset by the turn of events. Some feel Bungie should let players keep using them, despite it violating the contract, others want it gone and a few just want a refund. Regardless of where you stand on the matter, Bungie’s hands are tied, so at least some players have one less item to grind for.
