Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is indeed a long game and as mentioned earlier in my review, it could take over one hundred hours for someone to completely finish the game. By doing the main quest alone, an estimate of about 60 hours is achievable in beating the game but since there are a lot of JRPG gamers wanting to complete everything like unlock all trophies or achievements, they are wanting for more. Luckily with Dragon Quest XI, the game simply just doesn’t end when the credits have rolled. Assuming you have invested 60 hours into the game and you just saw the end credits, ask yourself if you want to do another twenty to thirty hours because the post-game activities the game has a lot of things to offer.
Without spoiling anything about the game, let’s discuss the possible post-game activities that you may do as soon as the credits roll:
1. A new story awaits
Just because you saw the ending, this doesn’t mean the game completely ends there. If you are among the people who have been surprised by the twists and turns of the game in terms of the plot, the new story that becomes available after you see the credits will even surprise you. Yes, I myself was surprised as well with the new plot for post-game and eager to see how it will end. Playing through this post-game story will allow you to see the true ending of the game.
2. Costumes/Outfits
Those who are looking to get all costumes for eight characters will have to play the post-game to obtain them. There are at least two costumes or outfits available for each character and the method of acquiring them pretty much varies from crafting them, or unlocking them automatically by playing through the story.
3. Grind to level 99
The challenging post-game increases as monster get more powerful. If you finish the game at level 50, you will realize that the next time you fight a random monster, they are stronger than you. With the true end boss being really so powerful- it’s really best to grind yourself to the max level to make the last and true final fight easy. Check out our leveling guide to get an idea where those Metal monsters reside.
4. Complete all 60 side quests
There are a total of 60 optional quests that you can do in Dragon Quest XI. If you have missed any of them while playing through the game, you can still do them right after the credits have rolled. Fortunately, there are no missable quests!
5. Collect all Recipes
Did you know that the strongest weapon available in the game can be obtained through crafting? Yes, to get the strongest weapons available for eight characters will require that you get a specific recipe and you have to craft them. Don’t worry- in about a week, we will reveal the strongest weapons that you can get.
6. The Wheel of Harma Trials
Let’s face it- when you first tried to do the first trial in the Wheel of Harma, you had a hard time. Well, if you have been grinding levels to get your team strong, you can challenge the Wheel of Harma Trials again and maybe, just maybe, you will complete them all through certain conditions. Just remember that good rewards await those who complete it.
