One of the awesome announcements that Sony has made earlier this year is the ability to use an external hard drive on the PS4 as a storage for applications and games in the upcoming PS4 4.50 firmware. While other platforms have already done this before like the Xbox One, there’s still one drawback to this newly announced feature – you can only use one hard drive at a time.
Upon checking if I can use my other hard drive, I was saddened to see that I was only limited to use only one hard drive. Yes, it’s a nice feature to be able to finally use an external hard drive as alternative to expanding my storage, but I was hoping it would be like the Xbox One where I could use multiple hard drives. The more the better right?
That being said, the features introduced in the PS4 4.50 firmware is still in beta. Hopefully when the official firmware releases in a few months/weeks, it will introduce more features and remove the limitation of being able to only use 1 hard drive at a time. Not to mention, there’s a bug that disconnects your external storage upon turning on the PS4 from Rest Mode, and giving you the process of repairing the hard drive just because you didn’t disconnect the hard drive properly when you put your PS4 on rest mode.
