Over a year following the successful release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Square Enix finally announced today its expansion titled, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward.
Set to release in Spring 2015, the expansion will move onward to Ishgard, with the Dragonsong War, a bloody thousand year war between Ishgard and Dravinia, as one of the key plot points. The Wyrmking versus Thordan in his Knights Twelve is highlighted as a second key plot point.
In addition, a fourth city-state, The Holy See of Ishgard, will be added. In the upcoming release of the expansion, a massive new area will be added, challenging new dungeons, a new “high-end” raids, new gear, and recipes, multiple new jobs, and a new playable character race hinted to be the viangaa, airships and new unique primals.
According to Square Enix, the new city of Ishgard is governed by an archbishop and four noble horses and is physically divided to separate the privileged from the common. The fields include previously inaccessible regions beyond the Coerthas Highlands, such as Dravinia and other beast tribe-ruled domains, treacherous mountains, and floating land masses “above and beyond a sea of clouds”.
Fans can look forward to the level increased from level 50 to 60.
