Originally slated as just a straight to DVD and Blu-ray release, Planes, the spinoff of the Cars series, was brought to theaters last summer. Due to the kind of success of the movie, a sequel is being rushed out less than a year later. As a result, Disney Interactive and Tiny Orbit have teamed up to bring Planes: Fire & Rescue to Nintendo platforms, but oddly not the Wii U.
Planes: Fire & Rescue will expand on the movie that comes out in theaters, so it will likely be a good option for kids that love the movie. The game will be released for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo DS this summer, likely near the release date of the movie.
