The long awaited return of Killer Instinct is almost here with the launch of the Xbox One in a little under a week. The game will be available in a few different offerings, including the Ultra Edition. We knew that this special edition would be coming with a copy of the classic Killer Instinct, but now we have learned that it will in fact come with two versions of the arcade staple.
The good news is that you will actually be getting the two versions of the classic Killer Instinct in the Ultra Edition, but the bad news is that neither will be sold separately outside of this. The two editions that you will be receiving are version 1.4, the original arcade ROM, and 1.5D, the upgraded ROM that fixed multiple glitches and problems with the original. Make sure you get the Ultra Edition at launch if you want to play either of these classic versions in the future!
For those that do not know, there is the free version that will come with one rotating playable character with the ability to purchase the rest individually. There is the Combo Breaker Pack, which gives you all six starting characters at launch, with early access to the other two in Season One soon after. Then there is the Killer Instinct Ultra Edition, which provides all eight characters, 16 extra character accessory packs, eight costumes, and the two classic versions of Killer Instinct.
