It seems like my list of most anticipated games for each month just keeps growing since I started this feature a couple months ago. With the holiday season approaching, as well as the launch of next generation consoles in the near future, the month of October sees the releases of a lot of games, especially in the last week of the month. Keep reading to find out what games I am most anticipating this month, in chronological order based on release date.
NBA 2K14
While I have always been a bigger college basketball fan than NBA fan, I have always loved the NBA 2K series. This is one of the annual releases that I have to get at least every year or two. Of course with next-gen looming, some may be hesitant to pick up the current-gen version of the game, but with the the return of Crews mode as well as centering the game around my favorite NBA player, Lebron James, I know I will have to get this year’s edition. NBA 2k14 will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on October 1.
rain
Ever since rain was announced at last year’s Gamescom, I have really been intrigued by this very unique game. The game is developed directly by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, so there has been a good bit of hope that this game could be the next great downloadable title. The game features a boy who becomes invisible after seeing the silhouette of a young girl, and you will control him as he moves through the world. As the title would make you think, rain is a major factor as you are able to see your character by the reaction of the water hitting your invisible body. This incredibly interesting game will be available on October 1 on Playstation Network for PlayStation 3.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
I could have easily put this game on last month’s list, but I chose to hold it off until October’s list considering I am still an old school gamer that prefers to get retail copies of games. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD is an HD remake of the fantastic The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for Gamecube. The original is a favorite of mine, and with the new additions, especially the somewhat fixing of the Triforce shards quest, there is no doubt I will have to add this to my collection. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be available on October 4 for Wii U.
Beyond: Two Souls
From the developers of Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls has long been hyped since its unveiling at E3 2012. The first thing most probably will hear about this game is the use of high profile actors in the two main roles in the game, with Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe part of the cast. The game is billed as a interactive action-adventure game that tackles the topic of what happens after death. This is something that I have never seen in gaming, so the topic itself intrigued me before I even knew it was by the creators of Heavy Rain, which I also enjoyed a lot. This PlayStation 3 exclusive will be released on October 8.
Pokemon X and Pokemon Y
Well this has to be my most anticipated release of October, and that is saying a lot with the other titles, especially a few coming out near the end of the month. Pokemon is something that I’m pretty sure I will always be a fan of throughout my life. I can still remember the day I got my first Pokemon game, Pokemon Yellow, which I was obsessed with.I kept up with the second generation, but for some reason didn’t end up playing the third generation of games. A couple years later I got the itch to play more Pokemon at the release of Pokemon Diamond, and rectified my missing of the third generation by getting Emerald and FireRed as well. Ever since I’ve kept up with the series again, and as a result am ecstatic to play the new games. With tons of new features, as well as the introduction of 3D models to the series for the first time, I can’t wait to get my hands on Pokemon X on October 12.
