Alongside the announcement of a new model of the Playstation Vita that we reported on earlier, Sony has also announced something known as Playstation Vita TV at their SCEJA Press Conference 2013. This new device will allow you to play your Vita games on a television, but that is far from all it does.
The Playstation Vita TV has a slot for Vita games as well as for memory cards so you will be able to play your Vita games on your TV with the use of a Dualshock 3 controller. It will also be able to play Playstation Portable and PSOne games that you have downloaded. The device has all of the Vita apps like Netflix, Hulu, and more.
Possibly the biggest aspect of the device besides allowing the playing of Playstation Vita games without the handheld is the fact that it will allow for Remote Play of your Playstation 4. You will be able to use your Playstation 4 on another TV than the one it is hooked up to if you need to by using the Playstation Vita TV. This means you could have your Playstation 4 hooked up to your living room TV, but actually play a Playstation 4 game in your bedroom if say the living room TV is being used. This is a much easier option than moving the Playstation 4 from room to room.
This device will be released in Japan on November 14 for 9,480 yen, or approximately $100. A bundle will be available that comes with an 8 GB memory card, a white Dualshock 3 controller for 14,980 yen, or approximately $150. There is no release date for this product outside of Japan at this time, but I know I would love to have one myself.
