This Week’s New Releases 12/8 – 12/14; Detroit: Become Human, Shovel Knight, Blacksad: Under the Skin and More

As we get closer to the end of the year, we start to see fewer exciting releases. That isn’t to say this week has nothing exciting but it is a bit more specialty than most weeks.

For big releases we have the PC release of Detroit: Become Human and Dragon Quest Builders 2. Even if Detroit: Become Human wasn’t perfect, it was the type of adventure that resonated with a number of fans and something worth considering. As for Dragon Quest Builders 2, it’s a different version of a Minecraft-esque game, giving it a very specific demographic.

Fans of the Shovel Knight games may or may not be excited to see Showdown and King of Cards release. These make up the last bit added to the series, which for some might be bitter sweet. Regardless of how you feel, it’s nice to see the attention, detail and love given to the franchise.

Joining it is the console debut of Blacksad: Under the Skin. This gritty title found a lot of love on PC and it is sure to delight fans and newcomers on its new home.

Another interesting release is Riverbond. This cute and pixelated adventure game was originally featured in a State of Play and released to mixed reactions. Even if it isn’t the perfect game, it’s the type of mindless fun that many players will likely enjoy.
