Joining The Last of Us Part II in delay announcements today is Ubisoft, confirming Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Gods & Monsters will release next fiscal year or sometime after April 1, 2020.
Apparently the current plan is to have Watch Dogs: Legion and Gods & Monsters release between July and Dec. 2020 and Rainbow Six Quarantine, two unknown high profile games, Roller Champions and Just Dance 2020 will be between April 2020 and March 2021. Following that, Skull & Bones is set to release after April 2021, with no projected date for Beyond Good and Evil 2.
While this news came out of nowhere, it might have to do with Ghost Recon Breakpoint underperforming. Between reviews in the 50 to 60 range and a lack of sales, it isn’t surprising Ubisoft is less than thrilled with the performance. This also follows The Division 2 failing to meet expectations, likely furthering the idea that something needs to be done.
Despite this usually being sad or disappointing news, sites like Reddit are surprisingly optimistic. Some are happy that players are speaking with their wallets, ultimately forcing change, where as others are hopeful this will result in these games being all they could be. While it’s all speculation for now, hopefully this reevaluation will result in a win for gamers.
