Coffee Stain Publishing and Ghost Ship Games has just released a lengthy trailer, unveiling a whole host of content coming to Deep Rock Galactic via the next update patch.
As the title suggests this upcoming patch is the 25th Update for the Deep Rock Galactic – with the developers working hard since launch to both fix issues and add content to the game. The big addition in Update 25 are Deep Dives. These are weekly events that chain together stages – being only available to promoted dwarfs.
The stages will be identical for all whom play these Deep Dives, allowing for comparisons of miners times below the crust of Hoxxes. Each stage of a Deep Dive will award players with unique rewards. However, getting these rewards will not be a walk in the park. Not only is the difficulty locked but things like health will carry over from one stage to the next!
Mikkel Martin Pedersen, Game Director of Deep Rock Galactic, had this to say alongside the announcement and trailer:
“A proper Endgame for Deep Rock Galactic has been part of our plans for a long time, and it’s clearly also something our community has been hungry for. With the introduction of Deep Dives, Matrix Cores, new Mutators, Weapon Overclocks, and a bunch of other features, we’re confident we’ve cooked up an awesome Endgame that’ll keep our dwarven miners entertained for a very long time. While normal missions are randomly generated from session to session, the Deep Dives are pre-seeded. For the first time ever, this allows players to share and compare experiences as well as replaying them for a better outcome…and perhaps spur some friendly competition.”
Deep Dives isn’t the only content with the beard physics also getting attention. How hasn’t wanted more braids, beard jewellery and plating? Deep Rock Galactic Art Director, Robert Friis, had this to say on beards: “When we began development of DRG, we didn’t anticipate just how important facial hair would be to our community. In Update 25 we are totally overhauling our beard physics, as well as adding a ton of new beards to the already big collection of cosmetic items.”
