There is a lot of anticipation for The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III. Some want to see where the adventure goes, others want to see what improvements will be made and others are just afraid of it going in the wrong direction. Based off what I saw at E3, I have a lot of hope for the title.
Before getting to play it, I was assured there would be ways to catch up in the story. I referenced the extremely robust explanation The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II had and got the idea it would be similar. This means players should be able to step in at any point, assuming they’re willing to do a little research before playing.
When I got to play it, there was an odd mixture of same but different. All the core mechanics were there, attack before starting a fight, attacks generating power that can be used to defeat enemies, magic and more. The biggest changes were an increase in graphic quality and some quality of life improvements to combat. Things like being able to better direct attacks and maximize damage.
Sadly, not a whole lot was shown and given The Legend of Heroes series is built in the amazing story, I can’t quite comment on that but I would be cautiously optimistic.
