The release of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is indeed a success and there’s no doubt many are asking the team behind the game if a next installment is underway. Well, during the Dragon Quest Walk announcement, Square Enix revealed exciting news for fans looking forward to the next Dragon Quest game.
Dragon Quest series executive producer Yuu Mikase mentioned that Dragon Quest XII may not be formally announced yet but there are already preperations going on.
Here’s the statement:
“By the way, about Dragon Quest XII, which I’m sure is on everyone’s mind—[Yuji] Horii and I are currently making preparations on series developments that will connect to XII. I think it’s still too early, but we would like announce it in some form, so please wait a little while longer.”
With Dragon Quest XI just released last year in North America and about two years in Japan, it’s safe to say that this new title won’t be coming out soon, not maybe until the release of the next PlayStation.
Fans of the JRPG genre who have not played the game yet, should definitely consider this one. With good JRPGs becoming rarer these days, this game will have that fix for those looking for a game that is lengthy and offers bunch of content for the right price. Not to mention the game is now cheaper.
While everyone is patiently waiting for more details on Dragon Quest XII, Switch owners can look forward to a Switch version very soon.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is available now for PS4, and PC via Steam. Switch version is scheduled for release later this year.
