Even if gamers look at the different companies as enemies over competitors, the same does not hold true for these companies. Recently we’ve seen Microsoft get closer to Nintendo and now it seems that they’re looking to work on possibly working with Sony too.
While this is just the start of something possibly bigger, it looks like Sony is considering Microsoft Azure datacenter-based solutions for PlayStation and services like Crackle and more. This could be a huge step forward in reliability, in addition to possibly giving programs like PlayStation Now a second life.
In addition to this, Microsoft is looking to combine Sony’s image sensors with Microsoft’s Azure AI technology. This will give enterprise customers more power and the ability to potentially do more things. There is also talk of smart-AI enhancements to their systems, meaning we might see Cortana or something similar on Sony platforms.
For now it’s just talk but it’s a solid step forward and will ideally lead to some advancements in the future.
