The ESRB has now rated Dead or Alive 6 and the description predictably highlights some of the game’s more mature features. After all, the fighting game series always featured controversial sexual themes.
Anyway, Dead or Alive 6 has received a Mature rating recommended for people over the age of 17 and up. The content descriptors say the game features ‘Blood, Language, Sexual Themes, Violence’. It also says the game features ‘in-game purchases’ meaning we could see some microtransactions added. Hopefully it’s not random lootboxes!
The rating summary highlights the following: “This is a fighting game in which players engage in one-on-one matches with martial artists from around the world. Players mostly use punches and kicks to drain opponents’ life meters in fast-paced matches. Fighters can perform specialized attacks (e.g., magic blasts, exaggerated impact strikes), which are highlighted by slow-motion effects, close-up camera angles, and blood-splatter effects. Cutscenes depict additional acts of violence: robotic characters cut in half with a sword; helicopter machine guns shooting characters on the ground. A handful of costumes depict characters with narrow strips of cloth that barely cover their buttocks and/or pelvic areas. Some female fighters’ breasts jiggle while standing or fighting. In some sequences, players have the ability to zoom in on characters’ cleavage, posterior, or underwear, and take pictures. The word “sh*t” appears in the dialogue.”
Much like Dead or Alive 5, the game will feature many characters returning to the franchise but some new features include more slow motion finishing moves. It also sounds like there will be a story mode since the rating summary says the game has cutscenes. Hopefully more about the story mode is shared very soon.
Dead or Alive 6 will be out worldwide on February 15th, 2019. The game will be available for you to purchase on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. As of right now, the game will not be releasing on Nintendo Switch.
