The time has finally come as the much awaited release of Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally here. After years of waiting, the masterpiece that Rockstar Games has been working on can finally be experienced by fans. With its vast landscape and a lot of things to do, some might be overwhelm to the amount of content the game offers from robbing trains to hunting animals.
Since you have just purchased the game, we are here to tell you some important tips that you need to know before you play the game. These tips will help you get started:
Hunt animals you see
At the beginning of the game, you will be taught on how to hunt for animals in the game. With the outlaws running away from the bounty hunters, they must do everything to survive and that is to keep bringing food to the table by hunting animals you see.
In Red Dead Redemption 2, there are a lot of animals that your fellow outlaws and family can feed on. They can be hunted for their meat or other stuff and can be exchanged for useful things like an outfit. An example of this is at the beginning of the game, Pearson will be asking you for skins of the animals you hunt and by giving him what he asks, he will give you a reward.
Make Use of the Eagle Eye
When hunting for animals, there are ways to make it easier for you. Using the Eagle Eye function, you can enable it by pressing both the analog sticks, you can track down animals that you can hunt. It kinda works the same way as the Eagle Eye in Assassin’s Creed where you can see an aura leading to the location of the animal.
Sell your Stolen Goods
As an outlaw, you will do bad things in Red Dead Redemption 2 in order to survive and that is by robbing banks, jumping on trains or robbing off people. The good news is, the items that you steal can be sold to a guy named Fence. Approach him to sell off your goods. Please note that in order to sell him the stolen goods, there must not be any bounties on your head – and the only way to pay off the bounty is through the Post Office.
Loot Them All
There are a lot of things that you will be killing in Red Dead Redemption 2 and each of them have an item that you can loot. Make sure that every time you take down an enemy, even if its an animal, approach them and loot. To better see them on the field, look at the map and find the X icon as it indicates downed enemies. Since you will be needing a lot of ammunition, your down enemies will help you replenish them.
Bond with the Horse
Since the game takes place in the late 1800s, there are no cars to rid but instead there will be horses that you can ride. These horses that you own isn’t just your transporation, you will be spending most of your time with them. That means, you must take care of them in order for the horse to be good to you. Whenever you hitch them somewhere, don’t forget to give them a pat.
As the bond between you and the horse grows, there are many benefits that you can take advantage of such as the horse’s health and stamina will improve, you will be able to whistle or call them from further away, or they will even get tougher at times of a gunfight while riding them. In other words, take care of them as you will be using them a lot on this game.
Get to Know Your Map
As I mentioned many times before, the world in Red Dead Redemption 2 is big and the game offers a lot of content. It’s possible you might miss some quests but to avoid that, get to know your map and learn how to use them often. Whenever you are not on a mission, the quests will be highlighted in your map through different icons. Make sure that you approach each one of them to clear the quests.
Get Dressed Up Properly
The weather often changes in Red Dead Redemption 2 and sadly, it affects Arthur and his gang. Whenever its cold, it’s best for them to wear proper attire. Luckily, you can change outfits in the game that can easily adapt to the environment. Whenever you wear something that is not appropriate to weather, you will know as your health or stamina will decrease. Just think of it this way, would you wear a thick-skinned attire on a sunny and hot day?
