Red Dead Redemption 2 contains a world filled with life. With so many different things going on, it’s hard to find one mission/event to focus on. However, given the intriguing nature of a certain quest called American Dream, which involves finding the person responsible for dismembering and hanging people, it quickly caught my attention.
To begin your hunt for this gruesome killer, you need to find three clues that will show his location:
Note: The quest can only be initiated upon finding the first clue. There is no quest giver or anything.
Serial Killer Clue #1
The first clue is located south of Wallace Station. There you’ll find an X, which indicates a corpse is nearby.
You should notice the victim’s head near the top of a rock. There you’ll receive the first clue. It might not make sense at first, but it will as you continue on this quest. Once you picked up the map, examine it and put it in your Satchel.
Serial Killer Clue #2
The second clue is located west of Citadel Rock and south of Valentine, below the train tracks.
Like the previous mission, there will be a clue located in this general area. To find it, simply look for a stake with a head on it. Once you find it you should find the victim’s body and the next clue.
Serial Killer Clue #3
The last clue is located east of Braithwaite Manor and south of Rhodes. If you haven’t been here, scroll to the bottom of the map, place a waypoint and head in that general direction. As soon as you uncover the word “MEADOWS” on the map, the third and final clue is on the S.
The final clue is located behind the tree pictured above.
Finding the Serial Killer
Now that you have all three clues, piece them together to form a map. While you can examine it and get a general idea of where to go, it’s still kind of vague.
The Serial Killer’s whereabouts is located southwest of Valentine. Head over there (as marked on the map above) to encounter an abandoned house with a basement.
Simply enter the basement to find the killer and deal with them to finish the mission.
Reward
Upon putting an end to the killer you’ll receive $20 from the Sheriff! Congratulations! You have finished the “American Dream” quest.
