When the PlayStation Classic was announced several weeks ago, five of the twenty promised games were announced. Without no idea what the other fifteen games were, many were skeptical as to whether the classic console will be worth the $100.
Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment finally unveiled the full lineup of games that will be available for play when it launches on December 3 in the United States and Canada.
Previously, Sony announced five fan favorites: Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. Well, here is the rest of the lineup that will be available:
- Battle Arena Toshinden
- Cool Boarders 2
- Destruction Derby
- Final Fantasy VII
- Grand Theft Auto
- Intelligent Qube
- Jumping Flash
- Metal Gear Solid
- Mr Driller
- Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee
- Rayman
- Resident Evil Director’s Cut
- Revelations: Persona
- Ridge Racer Type 4
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syphon Filter
- Tekken 3
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
- Twisted Metal
- Wild Arms
Looking through the list of games that will be playable on PlayStation Classic- it’s pretty decent but not the best many could have hoped for. The good thing about the lineup is that all kinds of genre are there, though it would be awesome if games like The Legend of Dragoon, or Tomba are there.
When PlayStation Classic launches on December 3, it will include the mentioned 20 games above, two controllers, and many hours of fun. For those hoping that there will be some sort of PlayStation Network or Trophy support- there are none. There’s not even a feature where you can load PSN games.
For the price point of the PlayStation Classic- it all comes down that each of the game is worth $5. While not everyone is fond of the twenty games that are pre-loaded, there will be some people that might find the PlayStation Classic to be a waste of money. But then- if Sony would allow people to pick twenty games to be included in the PlayStation Classic from the hundreds of games that are available, I would say that would be worth it.
