Sony announced via the PlayStation Store in North America their plans to end online services for is three first-party titles for the PlayStation 3; PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Twisted Metal and Warhawk.
For those who are still enjoying the online service that Sony provides to all three mentioned titles, the services will end next month.
Here is the shutdown announcement for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale:
Online features for PlayStation All-Stars (PS3, PS Vita) will no longer be playable from October 25, 2018. Functionality will be affected in the following ways:
o You can play the campaign offline as well as local (couch) multiplayer in shared screen mode.
o You will not be able to host or join an online game.
For Twisted Metal, here is their shutdown announcement:
Online features for Twisted Metal (PS3) will no longer be playable from October 25, 2018. Functionality will be affected in the following ways:
o You can play the campaign offline as well as local (couch) multiplayer in split screen mode.
o You will not be able to host or join an online game.
And for Warhark, it’s no different- the game is also shutting down on October 25th:
Online servers for Warhawk (PS3) will be shut down on October 25, 2018 at 12:00 AM PT. As Warhawk was an online-only title, this shutdown means that the game will no longer be playable unless the PS3 system is set to LAN mode, as only local network play will function.
There is currently no shutdown notice for these three games in the European PlayStation Store. However, we have a feeling that they will soon follow in a few days or even a few weeks.
All three games that are ending their online service will be surely missed. As life goes on, so does the games so it’s best to enjoy what they have to offer until October 25. If you have purchased the game, don’t worry- its single-player campaign will still be accessible.
