Hikaru Utada has been the main singer for most of the themes in the Kingdom Hearts games. Now she will unite with Skrillex to make the opening theme to Kingdom Hearts 3.
The song they will be releasing is called ‘Face My Fears’ and you should be hearing it at the beginning of Kingdom Hearts 3. You can read more details via the press release announcement that was issued out earlier this week.
“Ahead of the release of the highly anticipated KINGDOM HEARTS III on January 29, SQUARE ENIX® and Disney today announced that the eight-time Grammy® Award winning Skrillex and internationally renowned singer songwriter Hikaru Utada have collaborated for the game’s opening theme song.
Skrillex, a long-time and self-professed fan of the KINGDOM HEARTS series, originally intended to remix the previously revealed Hikaru Utada track, Don’t Think Twice. However, owing to the pair’s friendship, this developed into the new and original collaboration, Face My Fears, to celebrate the game’s release.
Set to be released alongside Don’t Think Twice on January 18, the opening theme song, Face My Fears, has also been produced in collaboration with Poo Bear, the acclaimed record producer who previously produced Justin Bieber’s multi-platinum selling single, What Do You Mean?”
Skrillex made a name for himself a few years ago as he popularized the ‘dubstep’ genre of music. This will be the first time that he will be involved with a Kingdom Hearts video game of any kind. As aforementioned, Hikaru Utada is no stranger to the franchise as she has been involved in lots of other Kingdom Hearts video games that have been released over the years.
Anyway, Kingdom Hearts 3 releases worldwide January 25th, 2o19 for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. As of this moment, there are no current plans to port the game over to the PC or Nintendo Switch platforms.
