Killing bad guys is not the only thing you can do in Red Dead Redemption 2 because there will be lots of wildlife for you to hunt too. This includes big mammals as well as various fish you can get from the rivers and more.
Rockstar Games announced via the official Red Dead Redemption 2 website that the game has well over 200 different species of animals. This includes a range of mammals, birds and fish. You can read a small description about it below as posted by Rockstar.
“The diverse habitats and climates of Red Dead Redemption 2 are home to around 200 species of animals, birds and fish, all of which behave and respond to their environment in a unique way. Deer, bison and pronghorn traverse the plains in large herds, scavengers quickly sniff out carrion, sockeye salmon leap upstream, wolves attack in packs surrounding their prey, geese fly in fixed formations, possums play dead, rodents scamper into tree hollows, grizzly bears bluff charge when threatened, and birds of prey soar on thermals. They all form part of a complex ecosystem and must continually fight for their place on the food chain. The wilderness is at once a bountiful and perilous place, for both man and beast, and any predator can quickly turn prey.”
Hunting animals is essential for you to eat for food or simply for you to sell to get money from the markets. Some animals can also be helpful for you to craft warm clothing by using their fur. It sounds like hunting and fishing will be a major part of the game so make sure to practice it.
Rockstar also notes that you need to have the right weapon and skills in order to hunt your prey successfully. Horses are also an essential part of the game as not only can you ride on them, but they can transport your cargo too!
Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on October 26th, 2018 for the PS4 and Xbox One consoles. As of right now, no PC version of the game has been announced.
