When Cyberpunk 2077 was first announced, many people thought the game would have been a third person title much like the developer’s previous Witcher series. However, the developer has now stated why it changed to first person in Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt RED admitted in an interview with Geoff Keighley (via GamingBolt) the reason why it chose a first person perspective for Cyberpunk 2077. The developer said: ““First-person absolutely makes sense for us, because our company has always been about creating high quality role-playing games, and only by using first-person for this game, we’ve been truly able to achieve a very immersive experience“.
Another reason for the change is because they wanted players to get closer to the action. That said, there will still be many times that players will be able to see their own character throughout the game. This includes during cutscenes as well as when you are driving a vehicle.
There’s still no release window for the game yet, but we should see it from 2019 onward. Hopefully more gameplay and details will be shared about the game very soon.
