While there have been rumors that we might see a PlayStation 5 console as early as 2019, it sounds like Sony is still not ready for the next generation just yet. It might be a few more years until we see a successor to the already popular PlayStation 4 console.
It’s being hinted that the PlayStation 5 console might not be out until three years from now. This is according to Sony CEO John Kodera when he spoke to the Wall Street Journal.
Here’s his comments on the next generation: “We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future. We need to depart from the traditional way of looking at the console life cycle. We’re no longer in a time when you can think just about the console or just about the network like they’re two different things.”
Three years seems like a long time, but it sounds like Sony is still happy supporting the PS4 for the foreseeable future. After all, the PS4 is still the best selling console this current generation and sales do not seem like they are slowing down anytime soon.
