Roland Garros is happening in late May and to celebrate the occasion, an eSports tournament is being held that will feature the upcoming Tennis World Tour video game. The tournament won’t just be for people in France because competitions are being held all over the world.
As announced via a press release, the French Tennis Federation and BNP Paribas have teamed up to launch the first “Roland-Garros eSeries by BNP Paribas” and these are a series of video game competitions to be held all over the world based on the video game Tennis World Tour.
Eight countries around the world will have a qualifying phase where gamers play on a demo version of the game on the Roland Garros court. The countries that are holding tournaments are China, India, Brazil, France, Great Britain, Belgium, Italy and Spain. Qualifying events are being held now until the beginning of May.
Each country will have 32 participants and each winner in each country will have a chance to take part in the Grand Final being held at the Roland Garros stadium in France on Friday 25th May 2018. You can register your interest in the tournament by visiting wearetennis.com.

This tournament will enable us to bring together communities of players who are passionate about tennis and about gaming,” explained Stéphane Morel, Deputy Managing Director of the French Tennis Federation’s Strategy and Development Department.
Tennis World Tour releases worldwide on May 22nd, 2018 for the PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch platforms.
