Sony Santa Monica made a good choice with the creative changes it made to the new God of War game that just came out exclusively for the PS4 console. The new game managed to have the biggest opening in franchise history over in the UK meaning lots of newer gamers are playing the series for the very first time.
As reported by Game Industry, God of War PS4 became the fastest selling game in franchise history and this only includes physical sales from retailers. The game may have sold even more copies if digital sales were counted.
The new GOW game on PS4 sold 35% percent more than the debut of God of War 3 back in 2010. The new game also sold more copies than the first week of the Shadow of the Colossus PS4 remake that came out earlier this year.
The game managed to be number 1 in the main charts dropping Far Cry 5 to the number 2 position. Number 3 this week is the release of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Much like God of War, Yakuza 6 had the biggest debut in series history outselling Yakuza: Kiwami by 300 units.
It’s kind of sad two PS4 exclusives have to compete with each other at the same time. Hopefully people still check out Yakuza 6 after they have finished with God of War.
