Competitive Gamer Billy Mitchell Now Banned From Twin Galaxies

You may have previously known “expert” gamer Billy Mitchell for previously being one of the best arcade gamers for the likes of Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and more. Well it sounds like his skills were all a charade because he may have cheated all of his high scores.

Many people may have first recognized Billy Mitchell from the documentary movie called “The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters”. He was trying to defend his high score for Donkey Kong from the more likable Steve Wiebe who is a legit gamer.

Anyway, news of Mitchell cheating this high scores surfaced earlier this year and it looks like the evidence is true. Billy Mitchell may have altered and edited his high scores since he never competed in front of a live audience. Not to mention he was using an emulated arcade machine instead of a real one.

Website Twin Galaxies usually records high scores, but today they have made a statement that they have removed all of Billy Mitchell’s high scores from their rankings. They posted: “Based on the complete body of evidence presented in this official dispute thread, Twin Galaxies administrative staff has unanimously decided to remove all of Billy Mitchell’s scores as well as ban him from participating in our competitive leaderboards.”

Steve Wieber is now recognized to be the first ever player to attain 1 million points in Donkey Kong.  As for Billy Mitchell, it looks like he won’t be remembered as a legendary arcade gamer anymore after all this.
