Paramount Pictures has now announced the official release date for the animated Sonic the Hedgehog movie. It will be out in 2019 and should be much better than Super Mario’s first film that came out way back in 1993.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the official release date for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has now been penciled in to come out on November 15th, 2019. This is the first theatrical film starring the speedy hedgehog as the character has usually only been translated into cartoon TV shows and comic books.
Jeff Fowler will be the director of the film and this will serve as his directorial debut. He usually was responsible as a visual effects artist so this will be his biggest film to date.
Paramount Pictures plans to make the film a mix of 3D animation and live action. It’s more than like Sonic and his pals will all be in 3D while the human characters will be where the live action stuff takes place.
The film will come out a month before the releases of Star Wars: Episode IX and the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel. November is a decent month to come out as it avoids the mega competition from the aforementioned films.
Sonic is not the only video game character with a movie planned in the near future. Nintendo wants another crack at a Super Mario movie, although this time it will be fully animated rather than the rubbish live action iteration that came out almost 30 years ago.
