EA and microtransactions have become an evil combination to many gamers and people hate them more once loot boxes came into the picture. There were initial fears that the Burnout Paradise Remaster would have microtransactions, although it sounds like they will not be in the game as initially thought.
Burnout Paradise originally came out in the year 2008 when loot boxes and microtransactions were not heavily used in the AAA game industry. Now the two things are common in both free to play and AAA video games much to the dislike of many gamers out there.
An initial store listing for the recently announced Burnout Paradise Remastered suggested that the game would be adding microtransactions. The store listing said “In-game purchases optional” and this made people very angry when they saw it. Alas, it has now been revealed that quote was added by accident and is not representative of the actual game.
EA developer Ben Walke debunked this on his official Twitter account. He posted the following announcement: “Just a heads up, but the store listing for #BurnoutParadise that mentions “In-game purchases optional” is an error. There is no MTX or any additional paid for content. Pitch forks down please.”
This is good news so gamers don’t need to boycott the game like they did for Star Wars Battlefront 2 last year. In slightly related news, Ben Walke also confirmed via Twitter that Burnout Paradise Remastered will have its original soundtrack intact. He further said: “For those that keep asking me, the #BurnoutParadise Remastered soundtrack remains the same“.
Sometimes music licenses expire meaning some songs cannot be added to re-releases. We’ve seen this in the past as not every song has been included with the GTA games got ported to new platforms. Thankfully, EA managed to get all the songs back for Paradise.
