Square Enix studio Crystal Dynamics have acquired some talented people to join the company to work on the long awaited Marvel’s Avengers video game. The two developers have worked on the Uncharted and Dead Space video games in the past.
As reported by Polygon, Crystal Dynamics has now got Shaun Escayg who was a creative director over at Naughty Dog. Escayg was previously the director and writer for last year’s release of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The spin-off Uncharted game was still awesome despite being shorter than other games in the series. Mr Escayg will now serve as a creative director for the upcoming Marvel’s The Avengers video game.
As you might know already, EA sadly shut down Visceral Games last year leaving employees needing to find new positions. Thankfully, Crystal Dynamics has recruited Stephen Barry who has been working in the gaming industry for close to three decades now. Barry previously worked on the popular Dead Space video games.
Barry and Escayg aren’t the only developers Square Enix acquired this week as 13 others were also selected. Other developers have worked on such games such as Star Wars Battlefront, Batman: Arkham Origins and more.
Little is known about the Avengers video game, but hopefully it is as epic as the MCU films. That said, the game is expected to be 100% original so it won’t feature storylines that we have already seen in the movies. People have waited a long time for an Avengers game to come out since the original game got cancelled several years ago when THQ went under.
Anyway, it might be a long time until the game comes out as it’s still early in development. For now, fans should just wait until Avengers: Infinity War comes out this May to see their favorite superhero characters again.
