Nintendo has announced something brand new for use with the Nintendo Switch console. It’s kind of like the company’s own version of Google cardboard, but this time it’s called Labo and you can use it in many different ways.
There are several cool things you can do with Nintendo Labo. For example, you can fold out the cardboard where you can actually play on a piano. Another cardboard configuration allows you to play the game like if you are fishing with a rod.
You can even use the Nintendo Switch console screen in order to control objects that have been attached using the Joy-con controllers. One of my favorite features though is the motorcycle handle bars and acceleration pedal. It’s this type of innovation that makes Nintendo stand out ahead of the competition.
“We are excited to introduce Nintendo Labo, our new invitation for everyone to make, play and discover with Nintendo Switch,” said Kamon Yoshimura, Managing Director of Nintendo Australia. “We are looking forward to seeing how families and all creative minds craft new ways to play together.”
Nintendo Labo will be available worldwide on April 20th, 2018. A variety pack costs $69.99 and includes five ways you can play games. The kit includes the following items: “Cardboard sheet x 28 (includes extra sheet for customization), Reflective sticker sheet x 3, Sponge sheet x 3, String (orange) x 1, String (blue) x 1, Eyelet set (gray) x 1, Eyelet set (blue) x 1, Rubber band (large) x 2 + spares and Rubber band (small) x 6 + spares“.
If you want to see Nintendo Labo in action, you can watch the announcement trailer that Nintendo released for it earlier today. This has potential to become big, although we won’t know for sure until it comes out this April. Are you a Nintendo Switch owner and do you like the look of Labo?
