Over in the UK, sales of PS4 video games in 2017 were very impressive for Sony. Over 50 percent of the market share were for PS4 video games this year.
As reported by Game Industry, PS4 game sales in the UK accounted for 50.2% of all physical software sold in 2017. This is the first time ever that a single platform has over 50% of market share. The last time market share was this high was when the original PSOne console sales accounted for 47.9% of all games sold in 1998.
Another win for Sony is that it managed to have the most number 1 exclusive titles this year. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, WipeOut: Omega Collection, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Gran Turismo: Sport all took the top spot at one point this year.
Microsoft’s Xbox One accounted for 31.6% of video games sold. This is of course just counting retail copies as digital sales are not give at this time.
