It sounds like gamers aren’t the only ones upset with EA over Star Wars Battlefront 2. Owners of the Star Wars brand Disney were on EA’s backs for changes to be made too.
Before EA reversed its pay to win system in Star Wars Battlefront 2, the game was getting a lot of negative press. Pretty much every gamer hated its pay to win system including the higher ups and Disney.
As reported by MP1st, Disney was upset about the game’s press leading up to launch and how the pay to win system and loot boxes were considered to be a form of gambling.
The report also suggests Disney were scared of the backlash as it could have affected people’s interest in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. A last resort would have been for Disney to revoke EA as the exclusive publisher for Star Wars video games.
MP1st reached out to EA, but they refused to comment any further on the topic. Thankfully, changes have been made to the game so it’s not as bad as it used to be. Hopefully EA won’t make the same mistake again.
