Facebook is going all-in with its VR headset. First, the company announced a cheaper headset, but they are also cutting the price of the original hardware too.
The most interesting announcement is for the Oculus Go. This is a new standalone VR headset aimed for the more casual user. You can read the announcement below via Twitter: “The easiest way to experience VR is here with Oculus Go, an all-new standalone headset available early 2018. #OculusConnect”
The Go will be priced at $199 and you don’t need a mobile device or PC to play on it. This is the easiest way for people to experience VR. Expect to see it out in stores in early 2018.
Facebook also revealed that they are dropping the price of the original Oculus Rift headset to $399. This puts it in line with the price of the PlayStation VR. Bear in mind, you still need to have a decent PC in order to use the original Oculus Rift headset.
