How does the survivor system work?
The survivor system is somewhat straightforward, but, simply put, it determines most of your stats. Heroes might gain health, shielding and other things, but they don’t have stats offensive and defensive stats. These come from unlocking skills and placing survivors.
Skill Tree Advice
The skill system is surprisingly simple. Every skill tree is broken up into stats, allowing for better evolution, enhanced exploration, skills and improving said skills, being able to build more powerful structures, unlocking survivor slots and more. What you want to prioritize is tech point generation, survivor slots, build and repair speed, your classes and weapons evolution, survivor evolution, upgraded pickaxe, storage space and then whatever you see fit.
Now, this might not make a lot of sense, as building health isn’t listed as a priority, but there is a method to this madness. The reason tech points are so important is that it will help you more than anything else long term. Getting that perk will increase your gain by 52 an hour, making it easier to unlock tech skills and making you more powerful in less time. From there, survivors will give you a larger stat yield, especially in the long run, than anything else in the game.
As for the rest, evolution is a mechanic you’ll get more into later in the game and not something you should really consider with survivors below epic rarity. It still helps more to have those than gaining the ability to evolve something you don’t use. Characters will unlock perks, but after three stars there isn’t as much to gain. The same is true for weapons beyond two stars, as the materials are a lot rarer. Upon amassing them en mass you can consider it, but I wouldn’t suggest doing it until you have at least 100 of the types needed for you weapon. Finally, what makes building health and points so low in terms of value are their overall impact.
Building health is a shared perk, so whomever has the highest, is how powerful everyone else is. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get it, but it’s not as important as unlocking survivors and increasing your overall power. With enough power the enemy won’t even make it to your base for the health to even be an issue. Skills that add points are useful, but their gains are much lower than what you can get from other sources or the increase in power that comes from evolving a character. You’ll unlock plenty along the way and obviously team ones are more important, as they don’t just help you, but everyone you play with.
