When Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash was announced, it was an interesting direction to take the game. Instead of the Dynasty Warrior-esque gameplay we’ve come to expect, it’s something of a shooter, giving a reason for the girls to wear swimsuits and a fun new location to fight it out.
From what little was on display at E3, Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash is surprisingly fun. After selecting your girl, each who has different perks, and special attack, you’re thrown in a mission. The objective is simple, defeat every enemy.
In addition to robots, there were also girls with cat paws on, making an unusual combo. While the enemies weren’t that bright, something that might be due to it being a demo, the controls were surprisingly fluid.
You can tap shoot to fire a ball of water or you can hold down the trigger to release a torrent. Enemies went down fast, with more taking their place. The girls also had special moves, making for a more flashy way to defeat your enemies.
Needless to say, in the brief time I played it, Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash made quite the splash. While there are still plenty of things up in the air, it’s good to know that the controls and concept are, if nothing else, enjoyable and with it releasing in the near future, fans of the series should be excited to see where the tide takes them.
