Sometimes fighting games can be inaccessible if you are a beginner that doesn’t know what they are doing. Capcom wants to change that with the release of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite.
Game Industry spoke with Capcom Europe COO, Stuart Turner, where he talked about the accessibility of Marvel vs. Capcom compared to some other fighting games.
He said: “Marvel vs Capcom fits into this as a great introduction to the genre as a whole, far more simplistic and technically easier to pick up and play, and obviously having some of the best known characters on the planet from the Marvel Universe has huge appeal especially to that younger new audience we’re keen to bring in.”
The last Marvel vs. Capcom game came out way back in 2011 so there is a new generation of Marvel fans that might need to be introduced to the series. The upcoming Infinite is a good starting point.
That being said though, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite should still appeal to hardcore gamers with its insane combos and other moves. Capcom just wants to try and appeal to casual gamers too since the Marvel brand has worldwide appeal now thanks to the success of their Hollywood movies.
