Alien Covenant the movie is out later this year, although something more interesting was announced today. The movie will also be getting a VR experience.
As noted by Variety, the Fox Innovation Lab and director Ridley Scott have teamed up in order to make this happen. It just says it’s going to be a paid experience and will be released for major platforms. Presumably, this means it should be out for PlayStation VR, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
A short synopsis says: “Viewers will discover the true meaning of terror as they navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death.”
Running away from the Xenomorph in VR is a great way to feel scared and alone. VR is the most immersive way in order to experience horror video games.
20th Century Fox intends to make more VR experiences in the near future. They believe that VR will be a big business and they also feel it’s a great way to further promote their movies.
20th Century Fox will be releasing the Avatar sequels in the near future so a VR experience in Pandora would be cool to see. For now, Alien Covenant will scare your pants off later this year both in the cinema and in VR.
