Titanfall 2 Release Date Was Finalized Ages Ago Says Respawn

Titanfall 2

There has been some criticism towards EA for releasing Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 at the same time. Respawn however say their game’s release date was finalized a long time ago.

PlayStation Lifestyle interviewed Drew McCoy who is the producer for Titanfall 2. He was asked if the studio was satisfied with the release date.

He said: “I actually don’t know where the decision came from. I just know it was locked in a long time ago and there was no changing it. I’m not really worried about it. We tried not to [worry] really…When you care about what other games are doing, when they’re releasing [, you worry]. At the end of the day, we’re releasing a game that we’re happy with, and we enjoy playing, that we’re proud of. As long as we’re doing that, I think we’re gonna find an audience. It doesn’t really matter when it comes out. A good game gets noticed.”

It appears the release date did make an impact on the game’s sales. Titanfall 2 failed to impress in the UK selling less at launch compared to its predecessor. Not to mention Battlefield 1 still outsold it in its second week. Even games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition (a remaster) and FIFA 17 outsold it.
