Nintendo have announced that Super Mario Maker will make its way to Nintendo 3DS later this year. Announced during a Nintendo Direct on Thursday, September 1 – Super Mario Maker for 3DS brings all the tools and creative freedom of the Wii U title to the 3DS to allow for on-the-go stage creation. If you own a 3DS and missed out on Super Mario Maker on Wii U, you definitely won’t want to miss out when Super Mario Maker releases on 3DS this holiday on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
With Super Mario Maker for 3DS, players can create their own 2D Mario levels, and the 3DS version will release with nearly all the tools available in the original Wii U version. In addition to course creation, the game will feature interactive lessons to help guide and inform you on how to use the game’s tools.
Exclusive to the 3DS version, friends who have a copy of Super Mario Maker 3DS and a 3DS can collaborate on level designs by sharing them with one another locally before the stage is complete. Although courses made with Super Mario Maker 3DS cannot be shared online, players will be able to connect to the internet to download and play select courses from the Wii U version.
Super Mario Maker 3DS will launch on Dec. 2 and include 100 Nintendo-designed courses with new challenges – like collecting every coin or defeating all enemies.
