[UPDATE: Shortly after posting, the Bloodstained project has shot past the $165k mark and 2,100 backers]
Koji Igarashi, known famously for his work transforming the Castlevania series into a whole new spinoff genre has announced plans for a new game and needs fan support to make it happen.
Iga’s next title is titled Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night (no relation to Symphony of the Night, I’m sure) and has launched a Kickstarter campaign aiming to see the project funded. In addition to Koji Igarashi heading the project, Inti Creates (Mighty No. 9/Shantae) is working on development with Michiru Yamane (previous Castlevania titles) supplying the soundtrack.
In only its first 24 hours, Bloodstained has already surpassed $90,000 with nearly 1,200 backers supporting the project. A “modest” goal of $500,000 is needed to see this project to fruition and so far, word of mouth and hype for the next Iga title seem to be pushing the title well on its way. Beyond the $500k goal, Bloodstained also features a number of stretch goals including:
$600,000 – Artbook upgraded to hardcover
$700,000 – Second playable character
$800,000 – Nightmare difficulty mode
$850,000 – Voice acting by David Hayter
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is planned for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The lowest reward tier that offers a copy of the title is $60, implying that this will be a full retail release when the project is complete. You can find out more information on the project or back it yourself HERE.
