The Unreal Engine has been a major part of gaming for many years now and will certainly be around for years to come. As a result, Unreal Engine 4 has been a hot commodity but hasn’t been quite available to the smaller indie developers. However, that has now changed, as Epic Games has announced that it has now hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the new 4.1 update.
The $19 subscription fee for Unreal Engine 4 is still around, but you have gained access to these two new major platforms at no extra cost. As long as you are a registered developer on either platform, you will gain access to the entire source code for the engine. We will just have to wait and see what comes of this new support in the future, as it should make a major impact in development.
