It was announced last year that EA will be developing Star Wars games for the next decade or so. They only revealed they’re making a new Star Wars: Battlefront game and that’s it. It’s about time they shed more light on more games.
Sadly, LucasArts were shut down by Disney so they won’t be making Star Wars games anymore. The last game they were making was called Star Wars 1313. This looked like it could be epic as it was a third-person shooter and Boba Fett was to be the main character. With LucaArts’ cancellation, the game was canned too. It’s unsure if EA is going to revive the game, but hopefully they consider making a game similar in style and look.
Another game that could have been made was an action game starring Darth Maul. Sadly things happened behind the scenes and that game never came to light either. It was going to be released for the PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PC. Playing as Darth Maul would have been cool. Again, hopefully EA is considering making a similar game. Who wouldn’t like to play as Darth Maul?
Some goods news is that Visceral Games has former Uncharted writer Amy Hennig on their team. Visceral Games worked on the popular Dead Space titles. With Amy Hennig on the team, hopefully they’re working on a game that’s on equal quality of the Uncharted series. Star Wars 1313 looked like it was an Uncharted-like game, so maybe Visceral Games has something to show at E3.
We already know that DICE will be working on Star Wars: Battlefront. The only thing revealed at last year’s E3 was the logo. DICE should be able to show more on the development since it’s been a year now. Some gameplay footage would be nice since it’s been nine long years since the last game in the series came out.
One thing we hope EA doesn’t show at E3 2014 is another Star Wars Kinect game. That game was horrible and it’s sad that potentially good games got cancelled, but this one got made. If EA were to make an Xbox One version of Star Wars Kinect, fans all over world would be raging!
Star Wars is a huge universe and a plethora of games from different genres could be made. A lot of fans are wary of how EA might treat the franchise. E3 2014 is a huge platform for EA to try and prove the doubters wrong. If they can show off some new Star Wars games, fans are sure to get excited.
Other than Star Wars: Battlefront, neither EA or Disney for that matter has shared much details on future Star Wars products. As of time of writing, Disney has yet to announce the full cast of the next Star Wars movie even though it’s due to come out in December 2015.
It would be disappointing if EA doesn’t show off any Star Wars games at E3 2014. Hopefully they will at least show some gameplay footage of Star Wars: Battlefront. That game alone is big enough to satisfy our Star Wars fix.
