Developers, Warhorse Studios did an AmA of their increasing popular Kickstarter game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance on the popular social news website, Reddit.
An AmA (ask me anything) is similar to that of a forum thread. Users are given the opportunity to ask questions on the thread and the original poster can reply to each of them as they see fit. Each post is either upvoted or downvoted by the community. Most of the time, good posts have more upvotes than downvotes so the best questions and answers are more visible near the top of the thread. In the Kingdom Come: Deliverance thread, a lot of excellent questions were asked regarding different aspects of the game. Here are a few of key questions and answers from the AmA below:
Q: “Will this game support modding?” – carlosac
A: “Yes. Cryengine with it’s free SDK is ideal for that.”
Q: “Will the game be available on Steam? Will the alpha be available to buy later?” – Sworde
A: “Yes and Yes”
Q: “I’m a big fan of Mount and Blade, a medieval RPG with a focus on large-scale battles and politics. If you’re familiar with Mount and Blade, how would you compare it to the vision you have for your game? Are there any significant mechanics/features the two share, besides obviously the setting? Also – you said a lot of the fun is exploring and finding secrets for yourself. This is probably an obvious question that’s been asked before, but what are some RPGs that inspired you in this regard, if any?” – Un0va
A: “I think that we are on the opposite end of spectrum from M&B with regard to strategy and politics. Our game is more focused on story, on the choices of one specific character, rather than on the overall political struggle. It is also because we are based in specific moment of time in very specific place: we cannot alter the ‘big’ history (e.g. make a different person the emperor of Holy Roman Empire), only the ‘small’ one — how exactly it came to happen that this particular person became the emperor.”
Q: “What should we expect from fighting multiple enemies? Will it be possible to defeat relatively vast numbers of them (like 5+) or is it going to be more limited in this respect? And are we going to encounter such scenarios (multiple opponents) at all?” – Steinarr_Grimson
A: “It would be very difficult for five enemies to attack you at the same time, they could hit each other. That being said, we don’t want to have a situation like e.g. Assassins’ Creed where enemies wait to take their turn to be killed. There will be engagements with multiple enemies, but ideally you will have some allies to have your back.”
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is almost at the end of its Kickstarter time period so if haven’t already done so, check out the Kickstarter page here! It’s already reached its original goal and is more than likely to hit the $1 million dollar stretch goal which will implement a dog companion into the game.
