Rumor: The Elder Scrolls Online cost $200 million according to reports

The Elder Scrolls Online - Scamp

The Elder Scrolls Online is Bethesda and ZeniMax Online Studio’s upcoming MMORPG. The game is currently scheduled for an early April release on PC and June release on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4. With only a few months away from launch, a rumor surfaced from a usually very reliable source that was later removed. That rumor stated that The Elder Scrolls Online has cost about $200 million to produce.

This rumor came from Superannuation, a very reliable internet sleuth, who earlier today tweeted “Happy 2014. Elder Scrolls Online apparently has a price tag of $200 million. He later deleted said tweet without saying anything else about it.

Now the question is whether this information ended up being false or if he just removed it for another reason. It wouldn’t be that far out of the realm of possibility for this to be true considering that The Old Republic cost that and this game has a larger production staff.

  1. Really? Must have been typical cost for game creation, plus the LOADS of voice actors, because Final Fantasy XIV, remains the most beautiful MMO.. I wish I could take the beauty of FFXIV, (and I don’t mean guys looking like chicks -_-), and mix it with ESO, and make the combat a bit less messy. If you’re going to be looking at a game for 10+ years, you want it to be as beautiful as it can be.

BUT… I have enjoyed the beta, wish the crafting system was exactly like Skyrim’s though. I’ll be getting the game on PS4, since everyone I know who is getting it, will be getting it on that.
