As we reported a few days ago the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has sold a colossal 10 million copies but as a game the smash hit indie title has done even better.
Markus Persson, aka Notch, the man behind the hit indie title Tweeted “The original version of Minecraft has now passed 13 million copies sold”. Adding “Official statement: whoa.” The mobile version has also hit the 10 million downloads milestone like the Xbox 360 version giving the mammoth 33 million downloads milestone!
It’s worth noting that Minecraft started out being solely developed by Notch before Mojang was formed. Selling at approximately $20 each, with 33 million downloads, Minecraft has earned in the region of $600 million. Not a bad sum of money for an indie game!
