As we’ve known for a good while, Microsoft has adopted a pay to access content model for the return of Killer Instinct as a launch title for the Xbox One. Now we know, through Official Xbox Magazine’s interview with Microsoft Studios game designer Daniel Fornace, that the game will gain arcade mode as soon as Season One is complete in the game, which is once all eight characters are out.
For those that don’t know, you can download the demo for free with one playable character, pay to purchase each character individually, with six available at launch, or pay a fee to unlock all six characters at launch as part of the Combo Breaker Pack. Two more characters will be coming as part of Season One of the game, that you can purchase later, or purchase as part of a Ultra Edition that includes them.
Once all of this is available, arcade mode will be added to Killer Instinct. In the meantime, beyond typical multiplayer, there will be a Survival mode to keep you busy that allows for endless levels of fun.
